photo to painting

My ex-girlfriend asked me a while ago if she could paint some of the photos I took. I recenty foudn this on facebook. Top is the photo I took and below is the painting of it (which sold for a grand by the way).

Self Portrait

A few days ago someone mentioned to me that I take tons of photos, but seldom of myself. I took the liberty to finally do a self portrait. Unlike most of the photos I take where I make poeple look better, I think I did a good job of making myself look worse. One person on facebook commented this...

facebook aside, I shot the photo on my plain 50mm lens and this was shot at f/1.4. I cranked up the clarity giving the effect that my face is really bumpy or something. This is just extra added detail in the photo. I also added grain. Opposites of what I usually do, again. I always turn down the clarity as you can see in the 2nd photo of my good friend, Rhonda. The colors and hues in the two photos are similar, however, sharpness reveals a sharp difference between the two.

Good Portraits

I found a great portrait photographer, perhaps one of the best in the world! He lives in Escheburg, Deutschland and his name is Markus Schwarze. Here are some photos of his. A Man's Gear

This was a photographer at the Purim Carnival I shot at. I saw a name-tag thing and from it, I am pretty sure that he shoots for a local Newspaper. He wields his cameras like Clint Eastwood would hold his guns in a 60s or 70s western. Both were Nikons; on the left, i think that was a 300mm lens and on the right one of those prime lenses with a super low f stop.
Clearly, from looking at the dirt in the lens on the left, this is a man that does outdoor photography. Maybe the dirt is from shooting dirt-bikes or maybe just the sky on a windy dusty day. Whatever it is, i'd like to have his job.

Intro

This is a new blog dedicated to photography. It's my second and i have learned somethings so hopefully I won't make the same mistakes. I guess i referred to my self as a shutterboy in the name because well, am no photography expert but on the other hand, i know a good deal about photography.
